The most precious gift you can give to yourself is time and attention.

Sometimes we get too caught up with life, we lose balance of our true purpose. Connecting to ourselves gives us the opportunity to feel more connected to others.

We must inhale, feel and exhale. Stay grounded and understand all the 5 Ws

Who Why What Where When

Who am I? Why me? What do I want? Where am I? When is it going to happen? This process helps me recognize my reactions and feelings to respond to my needs to take good care of myself. Feeling what I feel and taking notes of it, helps protect me from getting off-balance with my true purpose. It helps me cope in more healthy ways. Whether it’s my job or being with my friends and family.

I must say I am so lucky and blessed to be able to live on an island that is surrounded by crystal clear waters and white sandy beaches. One way I love tuning out is waking up early and going for a dip every Saturday. It’s amazing how tiny and free you actually feel as soon as you jump into those waters. It’s like you're releasing all the negatives from your body and giving yourself to the ocean to cleanse your mind, body, and soul. Of course, everyone has their own way of tuning out. Whether it’s meditation, reading a book, or going for a jog. Mine is definitely the ocean.

Here are 3 ways to connect with yourself and your purpose

Start

journaling

Journaling is a therapeutic process that allows you to organize and understand your thoughts in a clearer way. By writing down the thoughts in your head and inscribing what is happening in your inner world, it allows you to process and organize those thoughts through processing them down onto paper.

Ask yourself questions

Ask yourself the questions that you are hiding from yourself, the ones that you are afraid to ask. Ask yourself the deeper questions and search for the meaning of why certain thoughts or fears are arising for you. By asking yourself these questions, it can help you get to where you want to go and uncover what’s getting in the way of your truly living out your dreams and your life’s purpose.

Spend time outside

We are a part of nature, so by spending time in nature, it helps us connect with ourselves. Get fresh air, feel the sun on your body, jump in the ocean or lake, and let the wind hit your body. Feel the oneness and connection between you and nature.

<aside> 💬 So let’s disconnect to connect more. Unplug to unwind; tune out to tune in. Quality time with yourself is important. It will clear your path and connect you to opportunities. There is definitely no app for that.
