Photography has become one of my favorite hobbies to do over the years. There is nothing more gratifying for me than taking photographs, especially in the company of good friends. Here are 3 reasons why I love photography and why I come back to it, over and over again.

Decompress with friends on nature trials and capture their bikini moment or their burping faux pas, whatever comes first!

Photography allows me to enjoy visually the little things in life, the details, and the memories. Nothing is too small to photograph, whether it is something that looks insignificant or just a person who will never know that I captured their image.

Photography helps capture my memories. I make visual stories about places I have visited and things that I find fascinating.

Sometimes I go in nature with only my lens, to slow down, observe and absorb.

The overwhelming blue skies of Aruba always invite you to frame it. We have various blue's in our nature, but nature does surprise me every time with more color pallets than I know it had. That is why I choose to slow down, observe and re-frame my notion. Pun intended!

Nature is my remedy to calm down my thoughts and body. And my body welcomes these stretchy walks.

Alongside from taking photos with friends and nature, I enjoy mostly taking photos of buildings. Because the architecture in Aruba has so many variant designs. We have different shapes and colors. The shapes and structures of our buildings are always purposeful. No inch of our houses are unutilized. Making interesting lines on the front view. This fascinates me. Such so that I decided to make a collection of paintings of my favorite buildings.

As a direct reflection of its Netherlands Colonialism, you will be delighted to find many of the downtown buildings designed in a Dutch Colonial Revival style using gambrel roofs and second-story balconies. They are also ornately decorated and painted in bright, often pastel colors, expressing the Caribbean feel.

Photography elevated my creativity to higher levels. Triggering more productivity and imagination into my work.
